New Student Advising & Registration Guide

Course Registration

For new students, course registration for the Fall 2026 term opens at 8:30am (Eastern Time) on Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24 based on the first letter of your last name: A-K may begin to register on Tuesday, and L-Z may begin on Wednesday.

First-year students register themselves for courses online in one of two ways outlined below. Students may continue to make changes to their course schedule through the end of the drop/add period in September—although it is strongly recommended to secure a full-time course load by the end of June.

Note: Your schedule may be subject to change in rare, but necessary, situations. You will be contacted if a change needs to be made.

Register WITH the Schedule Planner In Edvise

  • Use the Schedule Planner in Edvise to build your course schedule, send it to the Shopping Cart, and Register.
  • View the instructions to learn How to Register in Edvise.
  • Note: Use the "FY" Attribute when filtering for appropriate courses designated for first-year students.

Register with the ůůֱ²¥ Student System

  • If you have not already done so, create a user name and password, which will be used to access email and the ůůֱ²¥ Student System.
  • Login to the Å¯Å¯Ö±²¥ Student System.
  • Your SSP 100 Scribner Seminar will already be in place.
  • Use the Master Schedule to search for Fall 2026 course offerings.
  • Refer to the Student Self Service Guide for step-by-step instructions.
  • Register for additional courses. Use CRN numbers for faster enrollment.
  • Course(s) will go directly to your schedule unless you receive a warning or error message.

Note: When using the Master Schedule, enter "FY" in the text block for "Open in First Term (enter FY)." This will ensure that the course results are deemed appropriate for first-year students.

Wait LIsts

Some course sections will inevitably close, but many courses give students the option of adding themselves to a wait list. Keep the following points in mind before adding yourself to a wait list:

  • Do not add yourself to a wait lists until you have already secured a full-time course load with a minimum of 12 credits.
  • Being on a waitlist does not constitute enrollment. You are simply waiting for a seat to become available.
  • If a seat becomes available, you will be notified via ůůֱ²¥ email. Students have 48 hours to login to the system and enroll themselves, so be sure to keep checking your email throughout the summer!
