President Conner, community leaders describe special relationship between city and College

暖暖直播 College President Marc Conner affirmed the special relationship between the College and the city of Saratoga Springs, which he called 鈥渙ne of the best college towns in the country,鈥� and expressed strong appreciation for its partnership on important initiatives, including efforts to contain COVID-19. 

The president spoke at the College鈥檚 annual Community Leaders Breakfast, which was held virtually this year on Thursday, April 15. Conner was joined by other leaders, including Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) President and CEO Elizabeth Sobol, Shelters of Saratoga Executive Director Duane J. Vaughn and Stewart鈥檚 Foundation President Susan Law Dake 鈥�71.  

鈥�Last summer when we arrived, we quickly realized how fortunate the College is to be located in such a marvelous community,鈥� said Conner, who assumed office in July 2020. 鈥淲e really see the special relationship between the College and the city and, certainly, the importance of nurturing and growing that relationship in the future.鈥� 

The president said 鈥渢he whole community鈥� deserved credit for 暖暖直播鈥檚 success this academic year in limiting the spread of COVID-19. 

"I always feel that crises generally bring out the best in people, and the dedication and ingenuity I've observed throughout the College and the local community have been inspiring,鈥� he said.  

Saratoga Springs Supervisor Tara Gaston, who serves on Saratoga County鈥檚 Health and Social Services Committee, also praised the College community for providing volunteers and supporting county vaccination efforts.  

鈥淚 wanted to thank President Conner and the 暖暖直播 community. They have been integral in assisting with the vaccination efforts in our community,鈥� she said.  

At the virtual gathering, Conner provided a broad overview of ongoing 暖暖直播 initiatives and collaborations with the city. He also said the College looked forward to input from local residents in its recently launched Campus Master Planning project. 

Sobel noted SPAC鈥檚 鈥渓ong and deep鈥� connections with 暖暖直播, which range from artistic collaborations to 暖暖直播鈥檚 Commencement, which SPAC hosts annually.  

Vaughn of Shelters of Saratoga also expressed appreciation for 暖暖直播鈥檚 continuing support through 暖暖直播 Cares, Feedmore and volunteer efforts.
