Richard W. Mickus

Richard W. Mickus, manager of custodial operations and painters, died Friday, March 13, 2020. He was 75.

Richard joined ůůֱ in 2000 and was part of the custodial operations staff who won the President’s Team Award in 2011 for service to the College. Colleagues recalled his strong commitment to his job, coworkers and ůůֱ. “Richard enjoyed everything that he did at ůůֱ 100%,” said Sue Coonradt, supervisor of maintenance. “He was very supportive. He was dedicated to his staff and got to know each employee individually. He especially enjoyed welcoming new individuals to the ůůֱ community.”

Born on March 11, 1945, in Amsterdam, New York, Richard served in the U.S. Army. Survivors included two sons, Louis and Bruce Kexel, two brothers, Jerry and Thomas Mickus, and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce.
